Sutton Lawn Tennis Club |
Sutton is a club situated on the north side of Dublin city. The club is a combined tennis and squash club. This year the women’s first team won Leinster’s Premier Division League and Cup. They then went on to win the All Ireland Club Championships. It is the first time for the Sutton to have a women’s team in the European Club Championships.
The team players are:
Emma Toolan – she joined the club as a junior and has been No. 1 in the club for the last four years, she is a former junior international player and she played on the Leinster Senior Interprovincial team this year.
Christine Lowry – has been a member for the last ten years, she took up squash when she was a university student, and she played for Trinity College Squash Club in the European Club Championships on two occasions.
Anne Costello – has been a member for nineteen years. She has played for Leinster at the Masters Interprovincials and for Ireland in the Masters Home Internationals for a number of years.
Feena Murray – has been a member for twenty five years. She has played for Leinster at the Masters Interprovincials and for Ireland in the Masters Home Internationals for a number of years.
Julie Tierney – returned to play squash in Sutton this year after a number of years absence. She played on the Leinster Senior Interprovincial team this year.
