NICOL SCORES WORLD DOUBLE IN EGYPT

Scotland's Peter Nicol tonight became world squash champion for the first
time when he defeated Egypt's world No3 Ahmed Barada 15/9 15/13 15/11
in the final of the $170,000 Al-Ahram Men's World Open Championship in
Egypt.

The triumph brings double delight to the 26-year-old from Inverurie who will
now return to the top of next month's Dunlop PSA men's world rankings, just
ahead of Canada's Jonathon Power who succeeded him as No1 in May.

London-based Nicol's sensational 65-minute victory on the open-air court in
the desert overlooking the Great Pyramids of Giza, was his seventh in a row
against the 22-year-old Egyptian superstar, and his third successive
appearance in the world open final.
